The inaugural Pact, named Blood Oath Pact No. 1, consists of a special blend of three carefully selected, top-notch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskeys, blended (6 year wheated bourbon, a 7 year high rye bourbon and a 12 year regular bourbon that) and bottled by hand, resulting in one distinctly exclusive and unimagined bourbon. The debut combination, bottled at 98.6 proof, is available in limited quantities nationally in 750ml bottles, with a suggested price of $89.99. The bourbons in Pact No. 1 range from 6 to 12 years old. There were 15,000 bottles released in this “limited” offering.
Nose: Light on the nose. Gingerbread, caramel, berries, and rye spice
Palate: Oak, rye spice, caramel, honey. Nice mouthfeel, but nothing really stands out in the palate.
Finish: Medium. Oak, chocolate, rye spice
Grade: 77 – 79 (C+) = Average, Not good, not bad, just is
The presentation of this bottle is fantastic. Unfortunately, the palate just doesn’t provide anything substantial enough to make this desirable or memorable. It is just a boring pour in my opinion. For the price, you can find a better bottle for a third of the price.
